Rafters

Postby Red Oak » Sun Apr 03, 2016 7:10 pm

With the help of two friends, one of which is a professional carpenter (who did the majority) I got the rafters up this weekend.

I am whipped!

Hip roof 4/12 pitch.

Decking next weekend.

When do you start on the barn and the stable for the horses?

I can imagine the money goes really quickly. We're having our balcony redone and even that is very expensive. The fact that you're working a regular job doesn't help at all except for an income stream. You're really getting on with the structure though. I hope you can leave materials there safely. Theft here is a real problem for builders around here.

The materials are probably relatively safe, it is out off of the beaten path, and I have a CONEX we lock stuff up in.

The money and the energy goes pretty fast :(

The plan is to get a roof on it and "dry it in" and take the hot summer months off, and have the final push this Fall/Winter.

I am making do with my old one for a while longer.

I am going to wait and try to find a good used Ford 4220 or 5610 4WD with a front end loader.

A Stanley Steamer might be a good investment for when the gas goes away. I think Jay Leno has one available.

Can you translate that for someone with a 6400 sq ft lot?

160 acres is a quarter of 640 acres, which is one square mile.

So land is described in quarters, halves, and sections.

Holy sh*t!

I thought you were going to say.."the south quarter of an acre."

I have no idea what 640 acres looks like, but I'm not sure Burbank is that big..and 105,000 people live here.

Google says Burbank is 17.39 square miles.
