THE BURLESON FOURTH
Metal Shop is bringing the '80s hair band music back on Friday, July 4, when they headline the City’s free Independence Day Celebration concert and fireworks show at Chisenhall Fields Sports Complex!
If you love the City’s free Hot Sounds of Summer concert series in Old Town, then you remember Metal Shop rocking Old Town in 2013. The 90-minute Fourth of July concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at Chisenhall. The playlist includes Gun's 'n Roses, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Ozzy, Metallica, Poison, Tesla, Winger, Cinderella, AC/DC, and more, in a “true 80’s rock arena style concert.”
This is the fourth year in a row that Chisenhall Fields will play host to the City’s Independence Day Celebration concert and fireworks show. Admission is free. The gates on the park at 500 W. Hidden Creek Pkwy. will open at 5 p.m.
The day’s celebration starts at 9 a.m. on July 4 with the Burleson Lions Club’s annual parade. The theme is “Honoring our Military Heroes, Past and Present.” The parade route winds from Irene Street to Gregory, Johnson, Ellison, Main, Bufford, Warren, Gregory, and back to Irene. Categories include vehicles, businesses, individuals, sports, equestrian, motorcycles, church, military and more. Entry fees range from $20-$30. Register online at http://bit.ly/1po9QK or call Amber O’Rourke at 817-295-0461.
Residential streets in the area of the parade (Lena, Irene, Dian, Gregory) will be closed starting at 6 a.m. on July 4. Johnson Avenue, between Harris Street and Gregory Street, will be closed at 8:30 a.m. then the rest of Johnson Avenue will be closed at 8:45 a.m. Be sure to arrive early to pick your spot!
Friday night, Metal Shop will be set up in the field just to the right of the arched entrance to the sports complex. They will play until the lights go down to signal the start of the fireworks show, after 9:20 p.m. There will be lots of “oohs” and “ahhs” when the professionals shoot off fireworks choreographed to music.
Patrons may sit on the field surrounding the stage, in the bleachers and on most of the fields throughout the park. The concession stand will be open but patrons may also bring a picnic and beverages. No alcohol, glass bottles, pets, tents or
canopies are permitted in the park. Fireworks, including sparklers, are also not
permitted.
Once the fireworks show ends and traffic begins to leave the park, drivers may
turn right, only (towards I-35W), out of the Chisenhall Fields main arched
entrance on to Hidden Creek. Drivers may turn left, only, out of the entrance
closest to Irene Street. That left turn takes drivers toward the Irene Street
intersection and Hwy. 174/Wilshire Boulevard. If you are on Irene Street heading
southwest toward Hidden Creek Parkway, Irene will be closed to through traffic at
the intersection with Garrett Street, detouring traffic right to Meador Lane then left
to Lisa Street then left to Hidden Creek and finally right to Wilshire Boulevard.
There are more than 600 parking spaces at Chisenhall Fields and more than 200
spaces available for overflow at Hidden Creek Sports Complex. Sidewalks
connect the venues.
