I have a niece who is an anti-vaxxer. Anti-gluten too. Drives 25 miles to buy raw milk. And an extrene couponer, too.

I got vaccines in the 50s , had to , parents made me but it was only a couple for polio or chicken pox but I don't really remember . Might have been 1 or 2 more . My kids got a couple shots to go to school. No particular reason but I won't get the yearly Flu shots or swine flu vaccines or the upcoming ebola , aids , hepatitis , zika or other vaccines when they go on sale .

free choice as an adult is fine . I was never sick as a kid and I had minimal shots . I don't know the deal nowadays but I think that kids get lots of shots because they are mandatory . I don't know if shots are good or bad but as an adult with free choice [so far] I just won't get them .

Some coworkers were giving me crap about not signing up for the flu vaccine, and were accusing me of potentially spreading Flu Cooties, I told them if the vaccine was all it was touted to be they had nothing to worry about.

Nobody who knows anything about it believes it is perfect. It has far from
a 100% success. It is, after all, guesswork based on very early speculation about what
strains for which to prepare. The vaccine is quite effective - thank you very much.

I have had the flu shot every year since about the mid sixties. I have not gotten
the flu period. It is a combination of luck and science. But, I do admit: your
little joke is hilarious.

Well, not really, because you can still catch a minor cold from people that show up with the flu.

I suppose it's more like.."being around people with the flu can get you sick with a reduced version of the flu that doesn't knock the hell out of you".. if you 've had the flu shot.

Obviously, not a fool proof shot, but I don't want to be around people that don't get it..and can and will come down with the full blown flu.

I believe in the 2015 Flu Season the CDC rated the vaccine effectiveness so where around 20 %, washing your hands and staying away from sick people would be much more effective, IMO, with none of the risks of the vaccine.

I also recall that for people over 65, the Flu Vaccine does not reduce the death rate from Flu.

Good information on flu vaccines from Jon Rappaport. It seems that even the president of the US is afraid to criticize the CDC.

Wright goes on to say that he tried, without a shred of success, to convince Bush and Obama they needed to improve vaccine safety. According to Wright, the Bush people feared negative press reaction, and Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett killed the idea.
