Kid updates
Kid updates
Son just got home from WL; will be home for about 2 weeks, then he will head back for his final year. He had his second shoulder surgery at Christmas, but has been fully cleared to return to full football activities. He should start on the OL this fall; position to be determined; he has started 20 games the last two years; 14 in a row; 6 at LT and 14 at RT. There is a possibility he will be moving to Center; but only time and fall camp will tell. He should graduate next May with a civil engineering degree.
Daughter has been busy. She told us last November she was bored; so she added a second major. Took 18 hours this spring; had a 4.0 gpa. A month ago, she was approached by the track coach, and to make a long story short, she is now throwing the shot and discus. Has gone to one meet, where she scored 3 points. She will throw at the conference meet on Friday. She'll come home Sunday; take 9 hours in Summer I, work two part time jobs, and coach a rec league volleyball team.

Zephyr thinks he's smart. He said onions are the only food that makes him cry. So I threw a coconut at his face.

So glad to hear news of your kids, Bodine! They're both exceptional kids, for sure. I hope your son does stay healthy! Is your daughter going to be here most of the summer? Or is she going back to her school to get the summer courses there?

She is actually going to take summer I here at home. Only downside to that is I have to pay for them; which was unplanned, but it will be worth every penny. Trying to save for lots of trips to West Lafayette and Cullowhee this fall.
Re: Kid updates
She just got 5th in discus at her conference meet; went in ranked 10th. Not bad for her second college meet, and not throwing in 3 years...
Throws the shot put in a couple of hours...

Got 4th in the shot put; also had been ranked 10th in the conference.
Big day for my little girl, scored 9 points for the WCU women!

Re: Kid updates
That's terrific! I was surprised when you said "Shot put". I knew she was a terrific athlete but never expected shot put!

That's amazing for "technique" events like the shot and discus.
Re: Kid updates
She hasn't thrown either since her junior year of high school.
She has a slight advantage; Mom threw both in college, and has coached both for the last 35 years, in high school and now in jr. high.
Both kids are working on their summer workouts; hers will include some throwing.
Thanks for the positive comments.
