But I can top that..my favorite male singer is..Dean Martin.

Another good choice. Is there anybody who doesn't like Dean Martin?

Yet from what I remember his obituaries, all that I read, did not even mention his singing career but dealt mainly with his partnership with Jerry Lewis, something I couldn't care less about.

I don't think that would have been his choice. After all, he was the one who broke up the duo because he was bored with it. Jerry Lewis called him a "comedic genius", though. I think the "King of Cool" considered himself to be a crooner, first and foremost (and rightfully so).

I love lizards......although this year we don't have as many. I think that huge copperhead got some. Although Steve did see a couple of the 7 and 8 inch long ones. One small green one always comes up along the fence and gets on the gate and comes down to the ground. He/she doesn't seem to mind being around us.

I love Karen Carpenter too. I try to listen to her and emulate her voice, but she was just too good. There are facebook groups for her. The one I've joined is a little obsessive for my liking but I still belong.

I love Karen Carpenter too. I try to listen to her and emulate her voice, but she was just too good. There are facebook groups for her. The one I've joined is a little obsessive for my liking but I still belong.

When I hear her intone, "We've only just begun... to live", I get a little choked up, every time.

"Superstar" by the Carpenters comes on, and they stop fighting, and they both say, "Fine", "I can stand it if you can" (or something to that effect). Moments later, they are singing together, at the top of their lungs, "Don't you remember, you told me you love me baby? You said you'd be coming back this way again baby. Baby, baby, baby, baby, oh baby"

Paul Williams was once asked about the Carpenters sound being "vanilla". He replied, "Yes, but what an exquisite flavor vanilla is!"

The arrangements in the Carpenters songs were amazing, too. Some very cool bass lines, like in "For All We Know", which is almost like a counter-melody running through the first five or six bars of each verse.
