I HAVE FORGOTTEN

Postby GRANDPA » Tue Jul 05, 2016 7:59 am

How noisy it is on July 4th to be in a town where fireworks are legal. Wow!
I feel like I'm parked diagonally in a parallel universe.

I live around Royal Lane/Greenville Ave, last night I could hear very loud the fireworks exploding over the Cotton Bowl. Thats how loud. The neighbors dogs were having a tough time with all the explosions.

What is that, five miles away?

But were those legal? Where I was at (Goddard, KS), the whole town had been shooting them off all day & evening. It reminded me of when I was a kid. Any thought of banning fireworks would have been considered unpatriotic. "What are ya? Some kinda Commie Pinko Fag?".

Are you sure those were the ones coming from the Cotton Bowl, and not something closer that were going at the same time? I live one mile from the Bedford fireworks, and I wouldn't describe them as loud.

I live close to Lone Star Park. I can hear the professional show but it is not loud enough to be disturbing. But when I hear the fireworks in the neighborhood I get nervous because of what could happen.

I am not 100% sure the booms and bangs are indeed from the Fair Park show, but as I can hear lots of others from the other directions with not nearly the power of these from the south, I am pretty sure its the BIG show put on at the Fair Park Grounds.. In any case , its nice to hear the celebrations going on to celebrate.

I live at LBJ and Webb Chapel and I can hear the booms from the Irving show every year.

We also can hear Addison's Boomtown--but are usually not at home then.
