What is the creepiest thing that's ever happened to you?

A thread by LL got me to thinking about a creepy thing that had happened in my life (Reposted below from her thread). I don't know if this would qualify as the weirdest thing that's ever happened to me, but it is right on up there.

How about you? What is the weirdest or creepiest thing that's ever happened to you?

1999: My wife and I are vacationing at Disney World and go to eat at this Benihana-type place. We were both 35 at the time, and this lady at the table with us just becomes enamored with us for some reason. The whole meal this woman is ignoring her family and kind of leaning in to us; it felt like we were being interviewed for a job. She is from NY, and goes on and on about how we should come visit; why, you can even stay at our home! We just kinda say "yeah, that would be great" and she gives us all of her contact info. We didn't give her anything, not even our last names, and after that night we thought that-was-that.

About two weeks later I'm at home and the phone rings. "Hello sir, did you stay at Disney World last month?" "Yes", "Oh I'm SO GLAD I found you; I'm the woman from NY and I was wondering when you two could come up for a visit?". I thought it was my wife pulling my leg so I said "How about next week?" "OH GREAT! Here's my address again in case you need it!". I am now realizing this is not my wife, and basically gave her the old "Don't call us, we'll call you". She acted offended and hung up. Now this was before the Internet made it real, real easy to look up info on somebody, so I don't know how this lady found us. But man, that is creepy no matter how you slice it.

I'm sure if we would have taken her up on her offer the cops would have eventually found my head in her freezer. Scary!

Traders Village, many years ago. Kay (my wife} and I went on the Indian Pow-Wow weekend. We were having a hot link and a beer when some crazy Indian Lady sat down at the table we were at and told us she was gonna beat the hell out of her husband and gut him cause he looked at a younger squaw, ( her words ). This gal spooked Kay so bad we had to leave.

About 4 years in to my job at the prison,I was teaching females at the time. Me and Hopper were up at the fireworks stands over Xmas. Xmas eve we both went home to be with family for Xmas day. When I got home their was a Xmas card from a former student who is still locked up and on another unit. This was before the internet. Still have no clue how she got the info.
And she was locked up for stabbing boyfriend 68 times causing his death.

Or I made an innocent post on the other board that turned out to be a huge deal that they just wouldn't let it go

Don't know if I would call it creepy--but it was odd.

Many years ago, we were going to the Victoria Station restaurant on McKinney.
Husband, 2 teen-age step sons, our son (about age 8) and myself.
We parked car, got out and crossed to the porch of the restaurant. A young woman came up and asked if she could go into the restaurant with us. "I don't want to eat, I'll just get a glass of water."
HUH?????? I know we must have looked at her like, "Are you crazy?"
She began to assure us that she just wanted a drink of water and would not eat anything.
I don't remember if it was my husband or me that told her no......wasn't possible.

Of course, I think she wanted to sit down and order a meal on our tab--or have us treat her to a meal (poor thing)....or pick pocket us in the process.

But, hard-hearted-Hannah, said no.

Back in the '70s I was doing training duty in San Diego and one night we went to one of the "hot" night clubs over by the sports arena. Went to the restroom and while I was in there a gentleman of Iranian lineage tried to pick me up. I didn't want to start anything so I walked out, but if I had been just a teensy-weensy bit more inebriated it might have gotten ugly.

An anonymous caller told my wife I was having an affair with another woman. My wife says, "Oh Goody! They make such a nice couple!"

The caller hung up and never called again.

The most recent thing to happen to me was this week. I stayed in a motel on the Air Force Base in San Anthonio. The bathroom in the room I stayed in had a deadbolt on it. The keyed side on the inside and the thumb turn on the outside. In other words someone could have locked me in the bathroom. I was the only one in the room and I showered with the door open. It creeped me out. I took a picture of it and asked the front desk. They said the door may have come out of another building with the lock on it that way.

A pick up truck in the north bound lane hit the median and went air born.
He sailed directly over the top of my car, barely missing me.
If he had been 6" lower he would probably have rolled me over.
If he had been 2' lower I would have been decapitated.
It's the closest I've ever came.

we drive it a lot and i have seen some crazy stuff. i always keep an eye on the other lanes up ahead.... scary

That reminds me of the time we were cruising down I-20 at 80 mph headed for Tyler when traffic parted and there directly in front of us was a mattress that had fallen onto the highway. I had no time but to jerk the steering wheel to the right to avoid it. The problem was that an 18-wheeler was in that lane and on my right bumper. But the truck driver saw what was happening and hit his brakes to let us swerve around the mattress. I would certainly have liked to have bought that guy a beer.
