Part Two: Transportation

Postby jellowrestling » Tue Nov 01, 2016 11:53 pm

For that cruise trip, we have transportation arranged in New York and New Jersey. But our flight leaves from Love at 6am. What's the best way to arrange transportation? We were looking at some of the shuttle services, but they look a bit iffy. My parents mentioned using Uber to get to DFW a couple of weeks ago. Is that the way to go at 4am? Or is there a better way?

I'd compare the prices for Uber vs. a shuttle, taxi and any other way you can think of. Uber has a price estimator on their website:

Here's some comments from Reddit users:

I have not.

I've used Uber quite a few times. Used it coming back from the airport here once, and used it several times in NYC and Boston. Haven't had any problems at all. And the app is pretty cool. You can order a car from the app, see where it is, see what their ETA is, etc.

Can I request it ahead of time, or do I just wait and order it that morning?

Not sure. I've only ever done it "on demand".

They just started this feature back in June.

https://www.uber.com/info/scheduled-rides/
NOTE THE LIMITED CITIES IT'S AVAILABLE IN.

Uber launches Scheduled Rides, so you can (finally) book a car in advance

My son uses uber all the time. He doesn't want to party and then drive home. He loves it. We were going to AT&T for the movie "13 Hours" and he said we'd Uber, but it ended up that we had plenty of time to get there, so I didn't get to "Uber". I do know he uses it quite a bit.

My husband used Uber a few times recently when we were down to one car. Worked out fine.
