....passed a resolution to add $10 trillion to the national debt.
Rand Paul was the only dissenting Republican vote.
This is not a good start to the new session, and it is certainly not what America voted for.

Sen. Rand Paul gave a fiery speech on the senate floor Wednesday, blasting his own party for wanting to pass a budget that would add trillions to the national debt all in the name of repealing Obamacare.
“The more things change, the more they seem to stay the same. Republicans won the White House. Republicans control the Senate. Republicans control the House,” Paul began.
“And what will the first order of business be for the new Republican majority? To pass a budget that never balances […] To pass a budget that will add $9.7 trillion dollars of new debt over ten years,” Paul said.

Didn't hear his speech to the Senate, but I heard him on Fox Business this morning..nothing about increasing the debt..sounds like he really doesn't want to repeal Obamacare..not yet anyhow.

Re: The Senate Republicans....
A continuing resolution was passed in Dec funding the government into this year, April iirc.
Other republicans voted against it.
It did increase the debt, don't recall by how much.

It's ok if you disagree with me.

I believe he is completely ready to repeal Obamacare. He just doesn't want to tie that repeal to a bunch of new deficit spending.
Why is the Senate even discussing a budget in the first place? All spending bills are required by the Constitution to originate in the House.

I don't think he's ready.
His comments to Neil Cavuto were that there should be no repeal of Obamacare until there is a replacement, and that both things have to happen on the same day.
In other words, if Republicans can't replace Obamacare in the same day they repeal it..they should do nothing.
Once again, not a word about the national debt.

Re: The Senate Republicans....
And I think tying it into the continuing resolution allows them to bypass the 60 vote bit.

Re: The Senate Republicans....
If he said repeal should be tied to a replacement, then he is wrong. There should be no replacement. There is no constitutional authority for the federal government to be involved in health care in any way, shape, or form.

Re: The Senate Republicans....
And both chambers should pass a full repeal of Obamacare on January 21 and march it straight to Trump's desk. Anything short of that will be a complete betrayal of every promise they've made for the past 6 years.

Re: The Senate Republicans....
This is getting good. Republican heads exploding across the country.
Re: The Senate Republicans....
Not my head exploding.....I understand that Tom Cotton and Rand Paul both have proposals (I think they are working together) but time is needed to avoid all hell breaking loose. And that's exactly what will happen if the insurance companies don't have time to get the "cross state borders" going. Leaving citizens in limbo with no insurance would be catastrophic. And Obama will jump in and tell people "The republicans don't care about you!" It will happen if the cross over is screwed up. I can already hear Shumer "Make America sick again"
Re: The Senate Republicans....
