Don't plug one into a GFCI outlet either. We put our deep freeze in my daughter's garage. She & her hubby put a bunch of food it. Bob's yer uncle, the outlet tripped & they didn't know about it for quite a long while.
I feel like I'm parked diagonally in a parallel universe.

A refrigerator in the garage?..never considered that.
Another Texas thing, I guess.

used to keep our old freezer in the garage no matter the temperature and it always worked just fine , and it gets cold in the U.P..

One refrigerator is never enough. I used to have three (house, garage, and shop), but I've downsized to two. Actually, the third one is still sitting in the shop, but it is unplugged.

Some kind of survivalist thing?
The freezer in my small kitchen refrigerator is usually pretty empty..other than ice cubes.

No, just a necessity. One refrigerator doesn't have enough space to store all the stuff we need to keep refrigerated.

Kinda regret giving away my grandmothers Frigidare now. It had been in my barn for over 20 years. Rats ate the wiring and i had no use for it anyway.

BTW, on the front name plate, it said "made only by General Motors" I didn't know Frigidaire was ever owned by GM.

GFB, when someone has to drive 15 miles to find a grocery store, that person stocks up and does not plan on going every day.
That food has to go somewhere.....
2 people here. Have a 20 ft. ref in the kitchen and a smaller one in the pantry. Pantry also includes an upright freezer.
Ridiculous, I know, but we don't have to shop all the time and if ?? happens, we can eat out of the supplies on hand for awhile.
That ?? might be illness or ?? that prevents a trip to the store.
We live close to a grocery store now, but old habits are hard to beat.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- yep to the above plus 5 kids and a Mother and Father to feed and all cooking done from scratch . Plus sales of meats , fish at the grocery store , bad weather , blizzards where i lived and convenience and security . Same reason for large pantries and a few cords of wood for heating . Freezer and pantries , canned food are good to have .

Ok..I guess none of that would come to mind because I can't imagine living that far from stuff.
I'm trying to understand "20 ft refrigerator."
Do you mean..20 ft tall?

20 cubic ft = how mfg. measure the size of what a refrigerator will hold.
