A sad day for me

Postby Red Oak » Mon Apr 03, 2017 1:50 pm

My Grandmother requires more care than we can give and must be admitted to a Care Facility. It was her wish to live in her own home the rest of her life, that wish will probably go unfulfilled.

She is in her 102nd year, and until a few days ago was able to live semi independently with a little assistance from me and Mrs red oak.

That is an unbelievable accomplishment, I know, I only wish she could have made
It longer. :|

It's a tough but necessary call. We put my mother in assisted living when she was 90. It was no longer possible for her to function in her house unassisted.

Sorry it came to this. I hope your Grandmother is aware that you are doing it out of love and wanting the best care for her.
It is difficult when they don't realize it.

You have my sincerest sympathies. I know it's hard but sometimes necessary. We had to do this with my mother as she approached 90 also, but we were able to keep her in town and near her friends and family. We also made a point of one of us being there for church services every week.

Well my prayers were answered.

She is in a rapid decline and with some help from visiting Nurses, Hospice Care, and her family I believe she will complete her life's journey in her own home.

I have decided that when I reach the age of 70, I will take up smoking and hang gliding so as to never linger too long. :D

Red Oak, I have had more than one experience with Hospice Care. My Wife's Mother and later Her Uncle. My Grandmother as well. These Folks are a Special Breed and and will see her through the times ahead as peacefully as possible.

Sorry to hear this. However it is a blessing she can go comfortably in familiar surroundings.
