I've put over 2700 miles on the diesel Passat; spent 40 hours in the car; 23 solo.
Interviewed for a VP level position last Thursday in the panhandle.
Spent two nights in Wichita Falls at my parents on the way to and from the panhandle.
Then drove to Shreveport; met up with the wife, to deliver car and stuff to daughter at Western Carolina University.
It was also our 28th anniversary somewhere along the way...
Mandatory all-day meeting at work today, or else I would have been asleep....
Since last Wednesday night....
Re: Since last Wednesday night....
I love car trips but that would be a little much even for me....
Re: Since last Wednesday night....
Forgot to ask, which was the most interesting and most boring parts of the drive?

Panhandle is not a bad place to live.

Worst was traffic on I35 Wednesday night. Parking lot conditions at West (disabled truck in the two lane chute); and again in north FW (wreck in the construction zone). All this was after 10 pm; got to Wichita Falls at 1:30 am. Construction was bad in Vicksburg, and traffic was nuts in Atlanta (coming and going).
Good part of the trip? Had two books on CD to pass the time; one by Stephen King (Cell; not his best work) and one by Michael Crichton (State of Fear; disappointingly bad, too much eco babble and not enough tying up all the plot complications).
Daughter seems to be doing well; making friends with her new teammates. She was in a situation where she stayed in an upperclassman's apartment her first night; in the dorm for vb camp for 5 nights; then into a house she is subletting with the 4 new freshmen; and on Aug. 3rd she will move into her dorm. She has her car now, so she has some freedom of movement. She is hoping to go ziplining and whitewater rafting before she moves into the dorm.

It sounds like she's off to a very good start with new friends and new things to do. Best of luck to her. Will it be much further for trips to see your son play? I know it'll be further to see your daughter. You might need to take flying lessons. That would be ideal.

I really meant scenery-wise but I guess road construction is part of the scenery. Coming back from Oklahoma, I really enjoy the drive through the part of the highway that is cut through the mountains. And the Winstar casino rising out of pretty much nothing is interesting. The rest was pretty boring.

Not much to see except trees. The mountains/trees north of Atlanta into North Carolina are nice. This was my first visit to the area; I am used to Colorado/NM mountains with pine forests and rocks/boulders. We were told the colors are spectacular in the fall; hope we can make it over to see for ourselves...

Wow.. sounds like a bunch of changes. Congrats on getting the daughter moved, and all the adventures to come.
Zephyr thinks he's smart. He said onions are the only food that makes him cry. So I threw a coconut at his face.
